Exploring Your Faith

What is a Christian?

You wouldn't be the first person to ask this question.

Sometimes it can seem like it's all about following a whole load of out-of-date rules.

What would Jesus say about that? This is what he said when someone asked him:

" 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.'  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

(Matthew 22:37-40 New International Version)

So it's not really about rules at all.  It's about relationships.

God wants us to have good relationships with other people.

He wants us to enjoy a good relationship with Himself, too.

A good starting point for a friendship is to listen to someone and to try to do the best you can for them because you love them.

That works for God just like it would with any other friend. Why not give it a try?

When we break a bond of trust with a friend, it damages our relationship.  Sometimes we need to say sorry and put things right.

It's the same with God.  Some of the things we've said and done may have damaged our relationship.

This is when the 'Good News' comes in. God has done all the work needed to repair your relationship in the life and death of his Son, Jesus.

He's just waiting for us to reach out to Him.

If you'd like to know more, it might be helpful to talk to a Christian friend you trust or find a church you feel comfortable in.

If we can help at all, why not contact us.  You only have to leave as much information as you want to and we'll only reply if you ask us to.

It's changed our lives - it could change yours, too.
